Adjusting the Windows Aero Glass Effect

One of Windows Vista's most dramatic appearance effects is the color and the transparency of windows and other objects. You can adjust this effect to create the look you like. Note that you must be using the Windows Aero color scheme to apply these effects, and that the Aero glass effect is available only on computers that have display adapters powerful enough to show it. It's also not available in the Windows Vista Home Basic version.

Adjust the Color Scheme and Glass Effect

Click the Start button, choose Control Panel from the Start menu, and, in the Appearance And Personalization section, click Customize Colors to display the Window Color And Appearance window.

Choose the color scheme you want.

Select this check box if you want window components to contain transparent portions.

Adjust the intensity of the color.

If you want to create a custom color, click Show Color Mixer.

Use the sliders to adjust the hue, saturation, and brightness to create the color you want.

Click OK.
