Holding a Wireless Meeting

Even if you aren't connected to a network, you can still hold an electronic meeting by using Windows Meeting Space and creating a wireless ad hoc network.

Create the Meeting

Using a computer that isn't connected to a network, start Windows Meeting Space, and start a new meeting.

Enter a name and password for the meeting.

Click Options.

Select this check box to create an ad hoc network, verify that the country or region is correct, and click OK.

Click the Create A Meeting button.

Tip

You can create an ad hoc wireless network connection using a computer that's already connected to a different network, provided the computer has a separate wireless adapter that will be dedicated to the ad hoc network.

Connect to the Meeting

On the other computer or computers, have the other person or people start Windows Meeting Space.

With Join A Meeting Near Me selected, click the name of the meeting.

Enter the assigned password, and press Enter.

Wait for the network connection to be established, and then conduct the meeting as you would any other Windows Meeting Space meeting.

When the meeting is over, stop sharing any program that's being shared, save any handouts you want to keep, and choose Leave Meeting or Exit from the Meeting drop-down menu to leave the meeting and disconnect the ad hoc network.

Caution

When you create an ad hoc network for your meeting, the network also provides normal network access among computers. This means that if you've shared your Public folder, or any other folders, and you haven't protected them by requiring a user name and password (password-protected sharing), anyone in the meeting can access those folders.
