Identifying Yourself on a Local Network


The People Near Me listing service lets you control the way you're identified on a local network and from whom you'll accept invitations for meetings.

Make Your Settings

Click the Start button, type people in the Search box, and click People Near Me to display the People Near Me dialog box. (If you're already signed in to People Near Me, you can quickly open the People Near Me dialog box by double-clicking the People Near Me icon in the notification area of the taskbar.)

On the Settings tab, type the name you want to use for identification.

Select this check box if you want your user account picture to be included with your contact information.

Specify whom you'll accept meeting invitations from.

Select this check box if you want to be notified when you receive an invitation.

Select this check box if you want to be signed in automatically every time Windows starts, or clear the check box if you want the information available only when you sign in manually.

On the Sign In tab, sign in to or out of People Near Me.

Click OK.
