Downloading Video Clips from a Camera

Sometimes, rather than putting an entire video on your computer, you'll want to use only the best shots or the most interesting sections. To save the time and disk space that it takes to transfer the entire video and then edit it, you can go through the video on your camera and select which parts you want to download.

Download the Clips

With the camera attached to your computer, turn the camera on and set it to play the recorded video. In the Import Video Wizard that appears, type a name for the video, select the location where you want to store the video file, and select the video format you want. Click Next.

Select this option to import parts of the videotape.

Click Next.

Use the controls to move through the video until you locate the part you want to record. Use the Next Frame and Previous Frame controls to find the exact location where you want to start the recording.

Click Start Video Import, and watch your clip.

Click Stop Video Import when you reach the spot where you want to stop the importing.

Repeat steps 4 through 6 until you've imported all the clips you want, and click Finish.
