Downloading a Video from a Camera

With the digital video camera attached to your computer, you can transfer the recorded video to your computer in one of three formats, described below.

Download the Entire Video

With your camera attached to the computer, turn the camera on, and then set it to play the recorded video.

In the Import Video Wizard that appears, type a name for the video, and specify the location where you want the video file to be stored.

Click Format, and select the format you want:

  • Audio Video Interleaved (Single File) to copy the video using the .avi standard

  • Windows Media Video (Single File) to transform the video into the .wmv standard

  • Windows Media Video (One File Per Scene) to transform the video into the .wmv standard, dividing the video into separate files where the wizard believes the scenes change.

Click Next.

Select this option to import the entire videotape.

Click Next, and wait while the videotape is being rewound.

If you want to stop the recording before the entire tape has been transferred, click Stop.

Click Finish when the video has been transferred.
