Reviewing Reviews

Figure 22.3 shows the Reviews module with a review entered. Unfortunately, the Reviews module makes poor use of PHP-Nuke's color schemes; I had to pick a different theme to have the review titles readable. In PHP-Nuke's default theme, the review titles are printed in black on a dark blue background, making them practically impossible to read. If you plan to use the Reviews module, be sure to check out how it looks under various themes before settling on a theme for your site.

The Reviews module lists the 10 most popular reviews (based on how many users look at them) and the 10 most recent reviews (giving new reviews a chance to be seen). Users can then click any letter of the alphabet to be taken to a separate list of reviews starting with that letter. Figure 22.4 shows this page, which also lists the reviews' authors and the reviewers' scores for the products. Clicking on the arrow graphics re-sorts the list on that column, in either ascending or descending order, depending on which arrow you click.

One thing to keep in mind is that review titles should be actual product titles, not phrases like "Cool product!" Using product titles will help ensure that the reviews get properly categorized and are easier for other users to locate alphabetically; you can modify the titles of any reviews your users submit to ensure that those reviews comply with this naming standard.
