Avatars are little graphics shown next to a user's posts within the Forums. Avatars can be photos, cute little cartoons, or anything else; users select their own avatars through the Your Account module. PHP-Nuke comes with an avatar gallery, which is a bunch of cartoon-style avatars that users can select from; you can also allow users to upload their own avatars (although doing so can present security concerns; see Topic 65, "Securing PHP-Nuke," for suggestions). The Forums module's Avatar Management section simply allows you to delete these user-upload avatars if they're no longer in use within the forums. Doing so can free up a small amount of disk space, since these avatars are stored on your server. |
