Modifying Referrer Preferences

You can modify your site's preferences to control HTTP referrer logging. As shown in Figure 47.2, you can decide whether you want to track HTTP referrers at all and, if so, how many you want to maintain in the database. Once the maximum number is reached, PHP-Nuke stops logging new referrers until you manually clear the list through the HTTP Referrers icon on the Administration menu (use the Delete Referrers button at the bottom of the page).

Sidebar . FAQ

Why is the same referrer listed multiple times on the report?

PHP-Nuke doesn't add up referrers; it simply displays each one that comes through. So if one Web site refers 200 users to your site, you'll see that Web site listed 200 times in the referrers section.

Why are some of the referrer URLs so strange looking?

PHP-Nuke records the exact URL that was clicked for the user to reach your site. Many Web sites may code their links to look something like http://www.mywebsite.com/links.asp?linkid=465&host=34; these special links allow the other Web site to track how many people click through to your site.
