Chapter 34. Adding the Amazon.com Module

Yet another useful add-in module! Actually, one used to be included in some versions of PHP-Nuke, but not anymore. There are about a billion Amazon modules for PHP-Nuke; I'll be describing NukeAmazon (you can search Google for that term to find it), which I use on ScriptingAnswers.com. The author's home page is at http://preciogasolina.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1, where you can download the module.

The module is a bit difficult to explain, but perhaps easier if you see it in action. Figure 34.1 shows the module as a user might see it, with a specific product listed. The idea is that the module knows your Amazon.com affiliate ID (which you can obtain on Amazon.com if you don't have one), which allows any purchases made through your Web site to earn you a few bucks.

The module even includes a block that can feature products right on your home page for more exposure. Installation of the module follows the usual pattern: Copy files as directed and run the special Web page that sets up your database as directed. The download comes with complete instructions, which you must follow to the letter.
