Although Python was developed by a single person, it’s now being developed under the authority of the PSF (Python Software Foundation). The PSF is a group of Python advocates who are responsible for moving Python forward [Python-PSF]. Python is under active development and the PSF seeks proposals for enhancements by the development public. A Python Enhancement Proposal (PEP) can be submitted at the Python Web site [Python-PEP]. The version of Python used in this chapter (and in Chapter 18, Network Code Patterns in Python) is version 2.2.2.
