Introduction

When you create or edit an e-mail message, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 takes advantage of the editing and formatting features in Microsoft Office Word 2003. You can use Word as your e-mail editor to lay out the information in your messages and create the exact look and mood you want. You can get the look you want by adding formatting text effects, changing text alignment, adjusting line and paragraph spacing, setting tabs and indents, and creating bulleted and numbered lists. When you're done, your e-mail is sure to demand attention and convey your message in its appearance.

The quickest way to send a copy of a document is to send an electronic copy by e-mail. The E-Mail button on the Standard toolbar opens a new message in your e-mail program and inserts a standard message header at the top of the open file so you can send it as an e-mail message. However, if you need to send the entire file to someone, you can send it as an attachment to your e-mail message. With an attachment, the recipient can open , modify, and save changes to the document. When you add an attachment to a message, an attachment icon appears under the Subject box, identifying the name and size of the attachment.

If e-mail is not an option, and you need to fax, you should have a fax sheet that goes ahead of your document to the recipient. Word offers three template varieties of these basic fax cover sheets ”Contemporary, Elegant, and Professional. Each of these can be edited in template form, or used with the Fax Wizard. If you have hardware and software installed on your computer to send and receive faxes, you can fax a document directly from Word using the Fax Wizard. You'll be prompted to create a fax cover sheet to send ahead of your document, all this can be done without leaving Word.
