Reducing Junk E-Mail and Spam

You can have Outlook handle junk e-mail for you. You can specify what should be considered junk e-mail and how Outlook should handle that e-mail. You can ensure that e-mail from certain addresses or domains, which might seem to be junk e-mail, but is actually from a person or site that you are interested in gets to you. You can also make sure that the mail you send isn't treated as junk e-mail.

Reduce Junk E-Mail and Spam

Display your Inbox.

Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

On the Preferences tab, click the Junk E-Mail button.

On the Options tab, select the options that you want to enable.

Click the Safe Senders tab, and then specify the messages from the addresses or domains that should never be treated as junk e-mail.

Click the Safe Recipients tab, and then specify the messages sent to the e-mail addresses or domains that should never be treated as junk mail.

Click the Blocked Senders tab, and then specify the messages from addresses or domains that should always be treated as junk e-mail.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

Did You Know?

You can deal with junk mail as it arrives . If you receive a message that is junk mail, click the Actions menu, point to Junk E-Mail, and then select the option for dealing with the message.
