Opening a Presentation

You can open an existing presentation from the Getting Started task pane you see when you first start PowerPoint or by navigating to this task pane at any point. You can also open an existing presentation by clicking Open on the File menu, or by using the Open button on your toolbar. If you are not sure where a file is stored, you can search for it.

Open a Presentation

Start PowerPoint.

In the Getting Started task pane, click a recent presentation under Open, or click More.

Click one of the icons on the Places bar for quick access to an often-used folder.

If the file is located in another folder, click the Look In list arrow, and then navigate to the file you want to open.

Double-click the file.

Find a Presentation

Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar.

Type as much of the filename as you know. PowerPoint tries to match those characters .

Click the Tools list arrow, and then click Search.

If necessary, type the file name in the Search Text box.

Click Go.

Double-click the file you want to open, and then click Open.
