Working with Outlines

As long as Word is installed on your computer, you can export a presentation outline directly from PowerPoint into a report in Word with the Send To Microsoft Word feature. PowerPoint launches Word and sends or copies the outline in the presentation to a blank Word document. When you need the text portion of a presentation for use in another program, you can save the presentation text in a format called Rich Text Format (RTF). Saving an outline in RTF allows you to save any formatting that you made to the presentation text in a common file format that you can open in other programs.
