Rotating and Flipping an Object

You can change the orientation of a drawing object by rotating or flipping it. For example, if you want to create a mirror image of your object, you can flip it. To turn an object on its side, you can rotate it 90 degrees. Rotating and flipping tools work with drawing and text objects. Excel provides several different ways to rotate an object. You can use the rotate commands on the Drawing menu, the green rotate handle at the top of an AutoShape object, or the Format AutoShape dialog box to rotate an object. However, you can not rotate or flip chart objects.

Rotate an Object to Any Angle

Click the object you want to rotate.

Click the Draw button on the Drawing toolbar, point to Rotate Or Flip, and then click Free Rotate.

Drag a handle to rotate the object.

Click outside the object to set the rotation.

Rotate or Flip a Object Using Preset Increments

Click the object you want to rotate.

Click the Draw button on the Drawing toolbar.

Point to Rotate Or Flip, and then click one of the rotate or flip commands.

Rotate a Drawing Object Around a Fixed Point

Click the object you want to rotate.

Click the Draw button on the Drawing toolbar, point to Rotate or Flip, and then click Free Rotate.

Click the rotate handle opposite the point you want to rotate, and then press and hold Ctrl as you rotate the object.

Click outside the object to set the rotation.

Rotate a Object Precisely

Click the object you want to rotate.

Click the Format menu, and then click AutoShape.

Click the Size tab.

Enter the angle of rotation.

Click OK.
