Up to now, our investigation into the Tablet PC Platform SDK has not concerned itself with whether you re writing a new application or retrofitting an existing one for the Tablet PC. However, we will now change our focus to examine the specific issues involved with updating an existing application to leverage the Tablet PC Platform. You will find when using the SDK that there are some important considerations unique to working with an existing application.

In this chapter we will cover the reasons you might want to update your application to work on the Tablet PC Platform. We will also explore the reasons why, depending on the characteristics of your application, you might not need to use the SDK at all. We then delve into several practical considerations of integrating the SDK in terms of its effect on both application design and performance.
