Summary

We’ve covered a lot in this chapter. We started with a review of the changes and improvements made in SSIS compared with DTS. We walked you through building and deploying a simple SSIS package and then spent some time reviewing all the other tasks and transforms that you could add (with just more time) to make it a complex package. You looked at security, and you learned that each of the security options represents a trade-off of some type. You saw how easy it is to restart a failed package at the place of failure by using checkpoints, and you learned about the debugging options available to you when something goes wrong. Finally, you looked at the two options available to you for scheduling package execution and the different methods you can use to move packages from one server to another.
