Summary


In this chapter, you initially looked at the different RAID levels and high-availability technologies available in SQL Server 2005 to help you plan a fault-tolerant solution. We covered the high-level steps required to recover from a failure of a SQL Server 2005 solution. We then covered how to recover from a database failure by designing and implementing an appropriate database recovery plan. We also covered the different types of backups available in SQL Server 2005, and we covered the BACKUP and RESTORE statements. We highlighted the new options in SQL Server 2005. Finally, we covered different techniques for salvaging data from damaged databases.
