Version control system

A database system that specializes in managing multiple versions of files and tracking changes, allowing any version to be reproduced. These systems are used to store code versions, allowing the rollback to previous versions if problems are discovered.

View

A database object in SQL Server used to encapsulate a query. Commonly referred to as a virtual table.

Virus

A piece of computer code that can infect files on a computer system and can reproduce itself when the file is opened on another computer. Viruses are often written maliciously, but they are not necessarily destructive. Viruses work without intervention by users.

VLDB

Very Large DataBase. Industry term that describes databases that are typically so large that special considerations need to be taken into account, such as in the case of designing a DRP strategy.
