Taking the Next Step

Taking the Next Step

Over the history of AccuCode I have had the opportunity to learn about a lot of businesses. From aerospace to agriculture, from semiconductor manufacturers to meat packing plants, from office supply distributors to grocery stores, there is an infinite number of valid business models and processes from which to choose. There is one basic business axiom that I have learned along the away, however, and that is that you can always do things better. Process improvement is something that every organization should continually pursue . Technology can help with this but ultimately its about the processes.

Companies should focus on those areas that are going to give them the most bang for their buck. One strategy for process improvement is simply talking to customers, partners and employees in order to find out what the most flawed aspect of your business is. Then, do whatever it takes to fix it.

From my perspective, the things that I see most often in a stunted business are bad systems (or none at all) combined with bad processes. The processes underlying the operations of a company can often impact profit in unexpected and widespread ways. For example, inventory management is one of the biggest areas of savings with which we help our customers. Often, because they dont trust their systems or processes, companies carry a lot more inventory than they really need. By automating shipping, receiving, picking and put-away, you can then automate purchasing and then order entry. Over time, with a trusted supply-chain, this can lead to automated integration with customer and vendors alike. Each phase of this system and process improvement can deliver huge savings. Taking the next step in improving the basic processes of the company leads to better planning and cost management capabilities, which directly affect the bottom line.

Kevin Price founded AccuCode in 1995 out of the basement of his home with less than $1000. AccuCode is a team of expert business and systems analysts, software developers and systems integrators, working together to provide their clients with a best-of-breed solution for their data collection and data management needs. Self taught in automated data collection technologies, Kevin's ability to absorb information, define problems and apply solutions makes him a leader in his industry, and landed his company the #154 spot on the 2002 Inc. 500 List with 1,346% growth between 1997 and 2001. This accomplishment has been a goal for Mr. Price since 1989. In 2003, Mr. Price was a finalist in the Ernest & Entrepreneur of the Year contest and AccuCode was named to the Doloitte & Touche Colorado Technology Fast 50. Mr. Price's talents, leadership and team building have made AccuCode one the fastest growing and success IT services companies in the United States.

Mr. Price earned a bachelors degree in Marketing & Advertising from the University of Oklahoma in 1991. Mr. Price, his wife Hollee and their four children all reside in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado.
