About the author

Evan J Douglas BCom, MCom, PhD

Evan Douglas is Professor and Head of the Brisbane Graduate School of Business at Queensland University of Technology. His first two degrees are from the University of Newcastle, NSW, and his doctorate is from Simon Fraser University in Canada.

Since 1970, Evan has taught, researched, and/or held administrative roles in over a dozen universities in Australia, Canada, the United States and Asia. This includes visiting professor appointments at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Chicago; Sasin Graduate Institute at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok; Indian School of Business, Hyderabad; and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.

In addition to conducting a variety of executive development courses, Evan also consults extensively to business. He has previously owned and operated his own businesses. His teaching and research fields include the theory and practice of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial abilities , attitudes, behaviours and cultures, new venture risk recognition and risk mitigation, new venture strategy, and new venture business planning.

Evan has published in many journals and has written three books. His latest book (with Dean Shepherd) is entitled Attracting Equity Investment: Positioning, Preparing, and Presenting your Business Plan, Sage Publications, 1999.
