Burnout

Dealing with people, promoting good ideas, and even fighting change is hard work. In addition, sometimes we feel the angst of just doing our job day in and day out. Teams , individual members , and even team leaders (yes, even you) tend to suffer from burnout from time to time. There are many reasons for this, but the good news is that it is a curable condition. Let's face it: Things get old; the excitement and enthusiasm you probably felt when you first took on the task of helping teams in your organization wears off. What once was unique and adventuresome may later feel like a routine. Taking a disciplined approach to teams takes energy. Even the most gifted athletes have to drag themselves into the gym after a while. Even when you systematically go about the business of helping teams help themselves , things don't quite turn out the way you want them to. Reality in the workplace is different from textbook and playbook descriptions. Disappointments add up. Nothing comes out perfectly . Being a leader is stressful. Of course there will be some feelings of burnout.
