FreeHand's document window (Figure 29.1) contains the artwork ”or graphic file ”upon which you are working. The main component of the document window is the canvas, or the "live" area of your art. Anything within the canvas is what will be exported or printed. Anything outside of the canvas, in the gray area known as the work area, is a "dead" area. You can use the work area to store assets or have them bleed off the canvas, if necessary, for print projects.
