Macromedia also enhanced Fireworks' anti-aliasing capabilities. The capability to create custom anti-alias settings and to use system anti-aliasing is a huge step forward in improving the way that Fireworks will render small text on the screen. Historically, Fireworks has not been a stellar performer when it comes to work with font sizes less than 12 points. The new custom anti-aliasing enables you to control the output of your text and makes it possible to make small adjustments that can lead to big improvements (see Figure 24.9).
