Q&A

Q1:

Is there a way to add existing images (for example, GIF or JPEG images) to a slide?

A1:

Yes. In the Normal view, with a slide selected, choose Insert, Picture, From File from the menu bar near the top of the Impress application window. In the file dialog box that appears, you can insert most common image formats. The image appears on the slide surrounded by resize handles, which you can then use to move and resize the image to fit your needs for the slide.

Q2:

Can I make slide shows that have fun and interesting transitions between slides, such as fades and wipes?

A2:

Yes. You can display a list of selectable slide transitions for the current slide by clicking Slide Transition near the bottom of the Tasks pane in the Normal view.

Q3:

How do I delete a slide?

A3:

Right-click on the slide that you want to delete in the Slide pane; then choose Delete from the context menu.

Q4:

Is there a way to make a self-executing slide show using Impress in Linuxthat is, a slide show that can run without needing to be loaded into the Impress application first?

A4:

Unfortunately, no, although you can export your slide show to an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) or World Wide Web (HTML) document by choosing File, Export from the menu bar.
