Summary

In this chapter, you installed Red Hat's Enterprise Linux Desktop operating system to your hard drive by following these major steps:

1.

You launched the Fedora Core 4 installer.

2.

You created new hard drive partitions to hold the Linux operating system.

3.

You copied Fedora Core 4 to your hard drive.

Assuming that you installed your boot manager using the default boot manager configuration, the next time you power on your computer, you should find that one of two things will happen:

  • If your hard drive contains only Linux, Fedora Core 4 will start automatically the next time you power on.

  • If your hard drive contains both Windows and Linux, you will be offered a choice between starting Windows and starting Fedora Core 4.

In the next chapter, you boot into your new Fedora Core 4 system. The most difficult part of your Linux journey is now complete!
