Starting the Fedora Core 4 Installer

At the end of Chapter 1, "Preparing to Install Fedora Core 4," you found yourself looking at the Fedora Core 4 logo and facing a boot prompt after having booted from your first Fedora Core 4 CD or Fedora Core 4 install floppy. To install Linux, you must now boot Linux and start the installer.

Press Enter at the boot prompt to start the installer using the default options, which should work for most users. If Linux is able to locate your hard drive and your CD-ROM or DVD drive, the installer will find your Fedora Core 4 CD-ROM or DVD and ask whether you want to test your install media.

Unless your media is very scratched, feel free to skip the media test. Press the Tab key until the word Skip is highlighted and then press Enter. If all goes as expected, the screen clears, and a Fedora Core 4 logo appears once again as the graphical installer starts.
