Having finished this chapter, you should feel comfortable performing any of the following tasks from the command line:

  • Logging in to another Unix or Linux system and running several commands from its command line via telnet

  • Logging in to another Unix or Linux system and running several commands from its command line via ssh

  • Copying files to and from remote Unix or Linux hosts

  • Copying files from a Windows host to your Linux workstation using the network

After completing this chapter and the preceding chapters, you should be familiar with the methods needed to accomplish most basic housekeeping, productivity, and network tasks from the command line. In the next two chapters, you deal with advanced command-line tasks and scripting as you finish your lessons at the Linux command line.
