Launching the Fedora Core 4 Installer

As the finale to your first chapter, it's time to launch the Linux installer. Insert the Fedora Core 4 install DVD or CD-ROM and restart your computer. You should quickly find yourself face-to-face with the Fedora Core logo and can proceed to the next chapter.

If you see nothing but a blank screen, or if Windows starts just as it always has, your PC isn't currently capable of booting from a DVD or CD-ROM.

If this is the case, it may be possible to start from a DVD or CD-ROM by changing settings in your system's Basic Input/Ouptut System (BIOS) setup. Consult your system documentation or consult with its manufacturer for additional help. You must be able to start from DVD or CD in order to install Fedora Core 4.
