Summary

In this chapter, you learned to use the command line to perform routine calculation tasks and to manage and retrieve formatted data stored in simple text files. Although the examples here were brief and simple, as you become more familiar with the command line (and study the manual pages for the commands you're learning about), your ability to exploit these tools to their fullest potential will grow, and may find that your quick-and-dirty text databases and work-saving bc scripts will grow at the same rate.
