Understanding and Deploying LDAP Directory Services > 23. Case Study: Netscape Communications Corporation |
Chapter 23. Case Study: Netscape Communications CorporationPart VI, "Case Studies," shows how organizations actually plan for and deploy directory services. Two of these case studies (this one and Chapter 24, "Case Study: A Large University" ) represent real-life directory deployments with which the authors have had direct experience. The other two (Chapter 25, "Case Study: A Large Multinational Enterprise," and Chapter 26, "Case Study: An Enterprise with an Extranet" ) are fictional, and they represent the author's concept of how a directory could be deployed to meet the needs of such organizations. By presenting these four case studies, we hope to show how a directory can be applied within a number of different organizational settings. You will find that your organization isn't exactly like any of those depicted in these case studies; instead, you will probably find that it is a combination of several aspects from each. Use these case studies as starting points for developing a directory strategy for your own needs.
