To use this book, you need either Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, or Microsoft Windows 2000 DataCenter Server. A second computer running Windows 2000 Professional or any Web browser capable of Basic authentication is highly recommended. Although an intranet with at least four computers is necessary to run the sample application, you can understand its operation even if you don't have such a setup.

No programming knowledge is required to run the utilities included on the companion CD. (Some knowledge of a scripting language such as VBScript, Jscript, or Perl is very helpful to understand the code fragments in the book.)
