Module 6: GUIs for Data Handling and Administration

Overview

Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) are often the quickest and most efficient way to interface with MySQL. Now that you have had some experience with using MySQL from the command line and have a basic understanding of how SQL commands go together to communicate with your database, you re ready to try the GUI approach.

In this module, you will learn how to use two GUIs provided by MySQL AB: MySQL Administrator and MySQL Control Center (MySQLCC). MySQLCC has plenty of hours of practical use behind it, and the newest offering from MySQL AB, MySQL Administrator, is a welcome addition with many useful and convenient features.

Note  

There are a variety of other GUIs for MySQL available, both for sale and for free. As you gain experience working with your database, you may find one of them better fits your needs.
