Chat Sessions

When you send an instant message to someone, you are having an online text conversation with one other person. If you want to have a conversation with more than one person you should start a chat session. A chat session allows multiple people the ability to have a conversation in one window.

1. Click on a group that contains the name of the buddy you'd like to conduct a chat session with. Don't worry if there are additional people you'd like to invite or if you don't want to invite everyone in that group. You can modify who will be invited in a later step.

2. Click on the Send a chat invitation icon . The Buddy Chat Invitation window will appear where you can enter the text of your invitation and modify who is invited.

   

3. Type additional names of the people you'd like to invite if they are not all included in the list. Alternatively, you can also delete invitees from this list.

4. Type the invitation message. This is the message that the invitees will see when the request to join the chat session is sent to them.

5. Click on Invite . A message will be sent inviting the buddy to a chat, and the Chat Room window will appear.

   

6. Type messages as you would in an Instant Message window. When you click on Enter at the end of your message, it will be sent to everyone in the chat room and can be viewed in the Chat Room window.

7. Click on the X in the top-right corner to close the window and leave the chat session.
