There are a number of Web sites dedicated solely to searching other Web sites for specific content. Examples of these include www.google.com, www.lycos.com, and www.search.com. Netscape also has its own built-in search engine that will search the Web based on a keyword or words you type.
Double - click in a blank area of the Location field. The text will be highlighted.
Type in the keywords that you are looking for.
Click on the Search icon , and the search results will appear in the Viewer window.
Click on the desired link from the list of results, and the Web page will load.
Tip | If you enter more than one keyword, you may want to put an open quotation mark before them. This will yield results matching those keywords exactly. Without the quotation mark, the search will show results that match any or all of the keywords. For example, if you search for Dallas Cowboys, the search results would include any site that matched the word Dallas or Cowboys or Dallas Cowboys. If you enter "Dallas Cowboys, only sites that matched those two words in that order will be returned. |
Note | By default, Netscape Navigator uses Google as its search engine. You can set which search engine is used in the Preferences dialog box. |
