Chapter 5: Taking Out the Trash

Overview

Imagine that instead of trash bins in your house, you just had a fiery incinerator. Every time you threw something out it would instantly be vaporized. If that were the case, I can't tell you how many knives, forks, spoons, and other cutlery would have been forever lost in my parents' home. My father has single-handedly rescued from imminent death a buffet's worth of cutlery that was inadvertently thrown in the garbage. This same reasoning was used in inventing the Trash in Lindows. On your desktop sits an icon for the Trash that acts as a safety net in case you delete a file, directory, or program by mistake. In this chapter, you'll learn how to:
