Commenting Your JavaScript

As with HTML and XML, you can add comments to JavaScript code; in JavaScript, you use a double forward slash ( // ) to start a comment. The JavaScript interpreter in the browser stops reading anything on a line past // , so you can comment your code like this:

 <HTML>      <HEAD>         <TITLE>             Using Variables in JavaScript         </TITLE>     </HEAD>     <BODY>         <CENTER>             <H1>                 Using Variables in JavaScript             </H1>         </CENTER>         <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">         <!--  //Create the weatherReport variable   var weatherReport   //Assign a value to weatherReport   weatherReport = "The temperature is 72 degrees."   //Display the value in weatherReport   document.writeln(weatherReport)  //-->         </SCRIPT>     </BODY> </HTML>
