In the Exam Room

The exam room contains cubiclesoften called carrels because they are simply a small desk area with a PC, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. You will have less than a yard (meter) of space on either side (sometimes much less). You will be monitored , via either large windows or a closed-circuit video system. The intent of this is to preserve the integrity of the test. Others might be testing already when you arrive, and still others might arrive and begin while you are in the middle of taking your exam. Most people try to be as quiet as possible and not disturb other candidates. Do not expect to be able to leave the exam room without finishing the exam (such as for a trip to the bathroom): The testing center cannot allow any behavior that might provide an opportunity to cheat.
