Installing Resin on Windows

Obtaining Java

The most obvious place to obtain a JDK is from Sun at http://java.sun.com/j2se/. On this page links are available for 1.2.2, 1.3.1, and the latest 1.4.0 release of Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE). At the top of the page are the download links for Windows, Linux, and Solaris versions of the SDK. Note the JRE link is also present on this page; ignore this link because you need the SDK. Further down the page is a link for an installation document, which you use to completely install Java.

IBM

It should be noted that IBM also has JDKs available for Windows, Linux, and other operating systems. Currently, the Linux kit is based on JDK 1.3.1 and the Windows kit is based on JDK 1.3.0. The IBM Web site includes 1.4.0 versions of the Java JDK for some operating systems; support for other OSs is coming soon. The Web site for the kits is:

The kits from Java and IBM differ in two ways. IBM features a reengineered JVM and a just-in-time compiler. If you're interested in high performance, check out the IBM kits; however, keep in mind that new features found in version 1.4 will not be present.
