In the last chapter we covered a lot of ground, gaining the fundamental tools we need to work with data, including binary numbers , primitive data types, and typecasting. We overviewed core Java programming language classes and worked with a number of example programs.
In this chapter, we round out the basic programming tools that you need to get started writing real programs. That means we'll look at using character strings and arrays, loops , and conditional logic. This chapter has a lot of example code so that you can see how these structures work in different situations, and the code comes in the form of small, complete programs, so that you can get used to compiling, running, and modifying the code in its true context.
