You can also configure sites at the directory level. Modifying a directory affects all files in that directory, and the properties are inherited by subdirectories. When you make a modification, if any of the subdirectories have conflicting settings, you are given a chance to accept the changes or not to have those subdirectories inherit the settings. The directory level tabs are fewer than at the web site level.
Directory (or Virtual Directory) Tab
The Directory tab has all the same options that the Home Directory web site tab has, with one exception. If this is a physical directory, the choice to have the content come from a share located on another computer is disabled. If it is a virtual directory, the name of this tab is Virtual Directory, and all three content choices are available.
Documents Tab All options are available in the Documents tab.
Directory Security Tab All options are available in the Directory Security tab.
HTTP Headers Tab All options are available in the HTTP Headers tab.
Custom Errors Tab All options are available in the Custom Errors tab.
BITS Server Extensions Tab This tab is available only on virtual directories. It is not available on regular directories. On virtual directories, all options are available in the BITS Server Extensions tab.
