Setting Up Client Computers

During the process of using the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard in Windows 98SE (or Home Networking Wizard, in Me) you are prompted to create a Network Setup Disk. Setting up the host machines is as simple as running this setup disk on the other machines (called the clients ) that will connect to the computer running ICS (called the host).

For the most part, however, you just need to make sure each machine has TCP/IP bound to the wireless network adapter in each of your machines, as we did in Chapters 8 and 9.

In the next chapter, we'll set up your browsers on your computers so that they connect to the Internet over your wireless LAN, rather than trying to dial up an Internet connection through each machine's modem. After all, you've spent considerable time and money on a wireless network. The fruits of your labor include kissing your slow 56-kbps modem goodbye (at least as long as your broadband service is up and running). Onward!
