Summary

What kind of network will you build? It depends on how many computers you want to connect and what you'll do with them. Ad-hoc networks let you connect just two computers. Infrastructure networks expand your network with an access point. Hybrid networks let you mix wired and wireless technologies. And networks with standalone devices help make your network more fun or useful without connecting the hardware to a PC.

After choosing and plugging in your network adapters (and installing the accompanying software) you can connect your network adapters to each other or to your access point. Choose ad-hoc or infrastructure mode using the software that comes with your network adapters, and your wireless network will be up and running.
