The Four Button Frames

The button's Timeline consists of four named frames (see Figure 7.1): Up, Over, Down, and Hit. See Table 7.1 for their descriptions.

TIP

The end user can see only the contents of the first three states or frames of a button. Since the Hit frame defines the clickable area of a button, it is not visible to the end user .

FRAME

DESCRIPTION

Up

Corresponds to the active state of the buttonwhat you see when you first enter a presentation

Over

Corresponds to the rollover state of the buttonwhat you see when you hover or roll over the button

Down

Corresponds to the pressed state of a button; this is the state you see whenever you click on a button.

Hit

Corresponds to the button's hot spotthe clickable part of the button, an area that can be smaller or larger than the button graphics. The Hit frame is the best way to create an invisible button.
