Configuring Server Affinity

In the context of a JMS connection factory, the "Server Affinity Enabled" attribute determines whether a WebLogic server that is performing load balancing for consumers and/or producers across more than one physical destination will attempt to balance load across any physical destinations that are also running on the same WebLogic server.

To turn off server affinity on a connection factory:

  1. In the left pane of the Administration console, expand the JMS node in question.

  2. Select the Connection Factories node. This should display all the connection factories defined for your domain in the right pane.

  3. In the right pane, select the connection factory on which you are trying to turn off server affinity. This will bring up a property sheet for that connection factory in the right pane.

  4. Click on the General tab. Set the "Server Affinity Enabled" attribute as follows :

    1. When the Server Affinity Enabled box is checked, a WebLogic server that is load balancing producers or consumers across more than one physical destination will first attempt to balance load across other physical destinations that are running on the same WebLogic Server.

    2. When the Server Affinity Enabled box is not checked, a WebLogic server will attempt to balance load across physical destinations in a distributed destination and will disregard physical destinations running on the same Weblogic server.

  5. When you are satisfied with the configuration, click "Apply."
