Chapter 6. Pattern Sequencing Devices

In addition to Reason's sequencer, which you will learn about in Chapter 7, "The Sequencer," Reason offers a few other options for creating synthesizer lines and drum beats by using one of its pattern sequencing devices. Patterns can be either synthesizer parts that have been programmed in the Matrix Pattern Sequencer and are played through a sound module device such as SubTractor or Malstr m or drums beats programmed with the Redrum Drum Computer. By programming patterns and storing them in one of the device's preset banks, you can quickly recall a pattern at any point in the song. In this chapter, you'll learn how to:

Create drum patterns using the Redrum Drum Computer.

Create synth lines with the Matrix Pattern Sequencer.
