Specifying Page Orientation

In general, just choose Format > Page, click the Page tab, and select Portrait or Landscape. This applies to all pages that use the current page style.

Things That Control Orientation

To see how to control orientation throughout the program, see Page Layout Setup Options on page 83.

Setting Up a Landscape Page in a Portrait Document (Or Vice Versa)

Create a page style with landscape orientation, then just apply it wherever you need that orientation. The following steps provide the detail.

Step 1: Creating the Landscape Page Style
  1. Open the Stylist by choosing Format > Stylist.

  2. In the Stylist window, click on the Page Styles icon.

  3. The Default style should already be highlighted. Right-click on it and choose New.

  4. In the window that appears, name the style. Click the Page tab and select Landscape.

  5. Make any other selections you want for the page style

  6. Click OK to save the style and close the window.

Step 2: Switching Orientations

Switching orientations is easier than you'd think. Do this procedure to switch from your document's standard page style to the one you just created, then use it again to switch back to the normal page style.

  1. Put your cursor in your document where you want the orientation to change.

  2. Choose Insert > Manual Break.

  3. In the window that appears, select Page Break. In the style list, select the style you want to begin. If you're at the point in the document where landscape ends and portrait begins, for instance, just select Standard or whatever page layout you use for portrait orientation.
