Migrating Macros

By and large, no 5.1 or previous macros are converted or supported in OpenOffice.org 1.0. Macros from StarOffice 5.2 macros should work and require only limited changes.

The new XML file format requires a new Dialog editor with a completely different format. This makes it impossible to use the old Dialog from StarOffice 4.0 and 5.x in OpenOffice.org 1.0 software. You have to re-create all Dialogs from the scratch.

VBA macros cannot be converted automatically into StarBasic.

Macros in a Microsoft Office document cannot be run in OpenOffice.org 1.0. You can view the original Microsoft VBA macro source after opening the Microsoft document (choose Tools > Macros after opening the document), but the macros will be commented out.
