Distorting and Curving Text and Objects With the Effects Tools

You can use the Set in circle, Set to circle, and Distort icons on the Effects tearoff menu to achieve extremely interesting effects with objects or text. Figure 30-31 and Figure 30-32 illustrate effects on text and objects.

1. Select an object or objects.

2. Click the Effects icon in the toolbar on the left side of the work area, and click either of the Set in Circle icons, or the Distort icon.

   

3. Choose Yes when prompted to change the object to a curve.

   

4. If you selected a Set in circle or Set to circle icon, position the mouse over a corner; the pointer will change to a crown shape.

5. Click on the object and drag it to reshape it; a dotted line will show the effect you'll have when you release the mouse button.
