Troubleshooting

Most hacks are very easy to troubleshoot; they either work or they don't. When you comment out changed lines, it's very easy to go back and test specific changes. But with the previous changes, you might encounter two specific problems that are not as simple as changing a line of code. Here's how to fix them.

Table 'xxxxx.nuke_module_vars' Doesn't Exist

This error message is caused when you are trying to add data with the wrong table name. The module_vars table instance is present in all PostNuke installations, but the nuke prefix is a variable that might be different depending on your settings during your PostNuke install. Check your table names to confirm which prefix you have chosen.

Also, if you are using Multisites, your table names might be changed. If you have two or more module_vars tables for Multisites, you need to change them all when adding the description metatag.

Site Favicon Does Not Appear

You might have completed all of the site changes perfectly and still not be able to see your site icon. This is usually caused by browser caching. Your browser is unlikely to go looking for the icon file if it has already browsed your site. You can help force an icon check in two easy ways.

First, in your browser's location bar, click and hold on the icon to the left of your site URL. In Internet Explorer, the icon is the "e" default, and in Mozilla, the icon usually appears as a bookmark. Drag the icon away from that spot, just like you are dragging a new shortcut into existence, but you only need to drag it off the icon and then let go of the mouse button. The icon snaps back, but because you already started to create a new shortcut, the browser checks for a new icon.

If that quick method does not work, you need to create a real bookmark/favorite for your site. Add your site to your bookmarks, even if it is already there, and your browser checks for the new icon.
